Feng shui.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about Feng shui, but I know it is an old art of placing things, and that the coloured press has managed to spew an incredible amount of nonsense about the topic.
I hereby relay some of this to you, quite uncritically. Perhaps a pearl of genuine wisdom is hidden among the superstition here somewhere. Enjoy! :)
It is bad Feng shui to put the aquarium in the bathroom. Don't put it in the kitchen either; this is the domain of fire and wood, and the water element will suffocate your prosperity.
To enhance your prosperity, put the aquarium in east or south-east. For status and fame; south. For harmony and peace in the home; east. For progress in work and business; north.
You should have an odd number of fish, or something dividable by nine. This represents Yang energy.
Don't be sad if a fish dies. According to Feng shui it means that the fish has absorbed something negative that would otherwise have happened to you. Be quick to get a new fish to maintain the protection.
Don't place the aquarium facing a bedroom or a bathroom. This is considered unfortunate and may result in a loss of prosperity.
Don't put pictures of family members, especially deceased ones, on the wall above the aquarium.
